Parking In The Downs

It’s not unusual recently to see a cluster of pickups and trailers gathered on our streets, using all available curb space. Someone’s making new stuff happen at their home, a good thing. When these vendors use both sides of the streets for parking, however, they seriously constrict driving lanes and sight lines for drivers.
The single lane left when service providers use double-side parking is barely passable for large vehicles. It would not be passable by a fire truck. There should always be space open for emergency vehicles even if a parker needs to walk a little farther to a job.
If you see this happening on your street, please take it upon yourself to ask visitors to move their vehicles so that there’s room for emergency access. No one can do this better, or more quickly, than you.
