  3. H.E.B. Announces Long Awaited Community Meeting

    Event Starts: June 25, 2025

    6:30pm

@ Westin Park Central (Livingston Room)
    12720 Merit Drive
Parking vouchers will be given to attendees
    Rsvp to hillcrest@heb.com

Will an H.E.B. store soon build and move in at the north east corner of Hillcrest and LBJ Freeway? Find out what they want to do and join the conversation. H.E.B. wants neighbors to be customers and say they want neighborhood support. This is the best opportunity you’ll have to look and comment. Please plan to be there. To check out the property, take Hillcrest north to Hillcrest Plaza Drive and turn right at the traffic light. All the (10 acre) property on the north side of Hillcrest Plaza Drive now belongs to H.E.B. The south side office buildings are not H.E.B.’s property currently.

Several months ago, H.E.B. presented plans for a “big box” store at this site. Problems raised by those attending were traffic congestion, noise and trash from deliveries, the precedent set by bringing retail into a residential area, the disruption of settled neighborhoods. On the other hand, H.E. B. stores are well-run, desirable shopping destinations. We will find out at this community meeting whether the proposal has changed in response to community input.
