Our members serve one year terms. They approve or deny homeowner applications for renovation or improvement on property visible from common areas. Downs CCR’s define property amendments or improvements which require an OK by this committee. Appeals of the committee’s determination go to the elected Board. Find the application form here.
Members consider plans for maintaining common property with healthy plant material that invites community enjoyment.
This group publishes an e-newsletter following every Board meeting, updates this website, and drafts community ”blasts” which are emailed to all when some information needs immediate attention.
Members are part of a group which stays in touch with Dallas City Council, City Plan Commission, and nearby residential communities to interface with investors and developers and to be aware of zoning change proposals.
The “Downs Gate House” is shorthand for a lot of moving parts: there are attendants, protocols, software, Toll Tag permissions, guest lists, WIFI and electric power, phones, landscaping & sprinklers and gate mechanics.
Members organize social events throughout the year for residents. There is always a spring and fall block party, with food, sometimes live music or an antique car display, and children’s games. A December Holiday Party draws good crowds. Book Clubs for men and women meet 4th Thursdays at 3pm most months, Lunch Bunches for men and women. This committee also manages a private Downs Facebook page and a Facebook Market page.
